FORMATION & APPOINTMENT:

The Committee is established by the City Manager, who is responsible for appointing its members or designating a representative to do so. The City Council, as a legislative body, can take no "formal" action or have any input in the committee's formation, composition, or recommendations. The Committee is tasked with directing its recommendations to the City Manager and/or the Community Development Director for further action.

MEETINGS:

The Committee shall meet as needed, with a preference of meeting quarterly, and meeting schedules set by the City Manager or Community Development Director. Meetings may be held informally, without a fixed schedule, to provide flexibility in addressing Suisun City's economic development needs. Attendance and participation are encouraged, and meetings will operate without the constraints of the Brown Act requirements.

POWERS AND DUTIES:

The Committee’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Identifying economic development needs and opportunities within Suisun City.
  • Advising the City Manager or Community Development Director on strategies to attract and retain businesses.
  • Supporting downtown revitalization and workforce development.
  • Exploring potential for city-owned property development.
  • Promoting policies to stimulate sustainable growth, innovation, and tourism.

REVIEW OF ADVISORY BOARD

Near the end of each calendar year, or as soon thereafter, the City Manager and Development Director will bring an Economic Development Update to City Council as an informal item, including the City Managers evaluation of the Advisory Board’s benefit to the Economic Development process.
