As water supply reliability is a concern for all Californians, wise water use is strongly encouraged of all Suisun-Solano Water Authority (SSWA) customers though the recent drought emergency has ended.
The most notable change is that SSWA customers are allowed to use water on outside ornamental landscapes and/or turf any day of the week and as frequently as necessary, so long as the use is not wasteful, and follows the adopted wise water use guidelines.
If you see suspected violations of the guidelines below, please report your concern to the Solano Irrigation District hotline at 707-455-4050.
SSWA must continue to enforce wise water use measures and provide monthly reports to the California Water Resources Control Board on local water use. SSWA officials can issue violation notices, fine repeat violators and place flow restrictors in water services. Fines of up to $500 per violation can be levied.
Many of these activities are already discouraged or restricted by the City’s Urban Runoff Management Plan, which is designed to reduce pollutants from reaching the Suisun Marsh.
For more about the new State requirements, please see the California Drought website.
With drought conditions expected to persist for the foreseeable future, water conservation is part of life for Californians.
