ABOUT FIREWORKS SALES
Since 2012, state-certified Safe and Sane fireworks have been sold within City limits from approved wholesalers to help raise money to fund future July 4th celebrations and support local non-profits community groups.
Fireworks may only be sold by a qualified non-profit holding a valid Fireworks Sellers Permit and working with a wholesaler that holds a valid Distribution Agreement with the City.
What Safe & Sane Fireworks
Are Safe & Sane fireworks are those that do not fly or explode. All Safe & Sane fireworks shall bear the State Fire Marshal seal on the packaging. If it does not bear the seal, then it is not a legal firework.
Types of fireworks that are included under Safe & Sane are fountains, sparklers, smokeballs, snake-type fireworks, ground-spinning fireworks, pinwheels, most novelty fireworks, toytrick noisemakers, and some crackling items—basically anything that doesn’t spin uncontrollably or leave the ground. Fireworks that include rockets, aerial missiles and spinners, roman candle-types and any other devices (combination or novelty) that is structurally or functionally similar to any of these designs are not considered "safe and sane."
When and Where Safe & Sane Fireworks Can Be Used
Safe and Sane Fireworks can only be discharged during the hours of 9:00 am to 10:00 pm June 28 through July 5. Safe and Sane Fireworks can not be discharged within the City waterfront district or any City park. For purposes of this section, the waterfront district shall be the area bounded by Morgan Street, Main Street, Lotz Avenue and Civic Center Boulevard (including Day Park).
