Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

The information below outlines the City of Suisun City's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 Self Evaluation and Transition Plan.  This is in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Public Notice Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) shall be afforded the same respect and compliance as all other civil rights laws.
  • The City does not discriminate on the basis of disability.  Program applicants, participants, the public, employees, job applicants, and other are entitled to participate in and benefit from programs, activities, services and events, without regard to disability.  Our grievance procedure, self-evaluation as well as ADA policies, practices and procedures are available upon request and on the City website.  The City coordinates it's efforts to comply with the ADA through the ADA/504 Coordinator.

ADA/Section 504 Coordinator

  • The Human Resources Administrator which oversees Risk Management was designated as the ADA/504 Coordinator in July 2023, and the current coordinator is Christina Penland.  The ADA/504 Coordinator may be reached in person at City Hall, 701 Civic Center Blvd., Suisun City, CA 94585, by email: cpenland@suisun.com, or by phone 707-421-7300. Grievance Procedure

  • This Grievance Procedure is set forth to comply with the requirements of the ADA.  It may be used by any individual who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in employment practices, and policies of the provision of programs, activities or services by the City.
  • ADA Complaints/Grievances should be filed with the City's ADA Coordinator within 60 days of the alleged disability-related discrimination.  Upon request, reasonable accommodations will be provided in completing the grievance form, or alternative formats of the form will be provided.

Grievance Confidentiality

  • The ADA Coordinator shall maintain the confidentiality of all files and records relating to a grievance filed, unless disclosure is authorized or required by law.  Any retaliation, coercion, intimidation, threat, interference or harassment of the filing of a grievance, or used to restrain a complainant from filing, is prohibited and should be reported immediately to the City Manager or designee.

Reasonable Accommodations

  • Reasonable accommodations or modifications can be requested by the public, applicants or employees.
