Suisun City is excited to announce that it has been awarded approximately $350,000 in state grant funding to improve public safety through critical infrastructure upgrades. This funding will be used to enhance warning devices at the Suisun City Fire Station and install Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at the intersection of Pintail Drive and Crane Drive.

The City’s Public Works Department will seek approval to begin the design phase as soon as possible to expedite these important safety improvements. The City is exploring the possibility of amending the existing contract with Sanbell Consultants, which previously designed the RRFB project, in consultation with Caltrans. This approach could significantly reduce the project timeline.

“These enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to public safety and infrastructure improvements,” said Fire Chief Brad Lopez. “The upgraded warning devices at the fire station will ensure our emergency responders can operate more efficiently, while the RRFBs will enhance pedestrian safety at a key intersection. We look forward to creating a safer environment for students and parents who walk to and from the nearby Suisun Elementary School, as well as all who use alternate modes of transportation.”

The City will include key stakeholders in all future design meetings and decisions to ensure the projects align with community needs and safety priorities. Stay tuned on City communications channels for further updates on the project as they become available.
