Almond Gardens Redevelopment Secures Funding Approval from CDLAC
Published on December 13, 2024
The City of Suisun City is pleased to announce that the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee (CDLAC) has approved funding for the redevelopment of Almond Gardens, a pivotal affordable housing project in the heart of our downtown Waterfront District.
Almond Gardens, located at 709 Almond Street, is set to undergo a significant transformation. The existing 52-unit apartment complex will be redeveloped into a 99-unit affordable housing community, effectively doubling the available units for low-income families in Suisun City. This redevelopment aligns with the city’s commitment to expanding affordable housing options and revitalizing the downtown area.
The project will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, designed to accommodate the diverse needs of our community. In addition to residential units, plans include a single-story leasing office and maintenance shop. Residents will also benefit from a 5,000-square-foot landscaped pocket park, providing a communal green space for recreation and relaxation.
The approval from CDLAC is a critical milestone, as it allocates tax-exempt bonds necessary for financing the development of affordable housing projects like Almond Gardens. This funding will facilitate the construction and ensure that the units remain affordable for low-income households. Mayor Hernandez expressed enthusiasm for the project’s advancement.
“The redevelopment of Almond Gardens marks a major milestone in our commitment to delivering quality, affordable housing for our residents. We are grateful to CDLAC and Mr. Nojoomi (the developer) for their support and dedication to this project,” Hernandez said. “Affordable housing provides families with a stable living environment instead of being burdened by unsustainable housing costs. We look forward to the positive impact this project will have on our community."
The City of Suisun City will continue to work closely with the developers and stakeholders to ensure the project’s successful completion. Further updates, including construction timelines and application processes for prospective residents, will be provided as the project progresses.
