Suisun City, Calif. – Suisun City is committed to working alongside regional and national partners to drive economic growth, enhance national security and support America’s maritime resurgence.
“Suisun City stands in support of a regional effort to invite the U.S. government and leading defense contractors to invest in Solano County’s future,” said Mayor Alma Hernandez. “Our region has a proud history of shipbuilding—it is part of our identity. We are eager to contribute in every way possible to ensure maritime success in our region.”
Suisun City is uniquely positioned to play a key role in shipbuilding expansion, offering strategic transportation connections, maritime access and a strong industrial foundation. The city is directly served by the Capitol Corridor train line, providing efficient rail connectivity between the Bay Area and Sacramento, ensuring seamless movement of personnel and materials critical to defense manufacturing. Additionally, proximity to major highways and logistics hubs strengthens Suisun’s ability to support large-scale industrial and military operations.
“With the County’s designation of Collinsville-Montezuma Hills as a zoned location for shipbuilding compatibility,” Mayor Alma Hernandez shared, “our city’s proximity makes it well-positioned to provide support services and workforce development necessary to ensure its success.”
Suisun City also benefits from its proximity to Travis Air Force Base, a key military installation critical to global air mobility and defense logistics. The city’s longstanding relationship with the military community has fostered a strong network of veterans, skilled workers and defense industry professionals, all eager to contribute to the next chapter of U.S. shipbuilding and national security efforts.
“Suisun City is home to a civic-minded and patriotic community that understands the importance of rebuilding our nation’s defense industrial base,” said Mayor Alma Hernandez. “Solano County takes great pride in being home to Travis Air Force Base, a pillar of national defense. Bringing shipbuilding back to our region amplifies our role in strengthening America’s security and military readiness. We welcome the opportunity to support the defense and maritime industries and invite government leaders and industry partners to visit Suisun City, meet with our leadership and explore how our city and county can be valuable partners in advancing America’s shipbuilding and defense manufacturing sectors. Together, we can build a stronger, more secure future for our country.”
